Building the Perfect Face-New Trends in Cosmetic Surgery for Men
While stronger facial features may be what’s “hot” in plastic surgery, men see it as a chance to achieve a more masculine look. To help fulfill this look, plastic surgeons recommend enhancing facial definition by balancing the contours of the face.
“I did a rhinoplasty and a chin implant on a famous actor who felt his nose was too large and his chin not very strong. We left a bit of a bump on the nose, so it still looked like his, just a better version,” says NYC plastic surgeon, Dr. Darrick Antell. “No one, including the producer on his next project, noticed that he’d had anything done to his nose.”
While simply enhancing or trimming back the nose can help minimize or increase the prominence of the chin, procedures such as rhinoplasty and chin implants are often combined. The combination of nasal surgery with chin augmentation will improve the measurement of facial features for a harmonized look. Both the nose and chin work together in defining your look. An overly large nose can cause a chin to appear smaller, while an overly large chin can cause the nose to appear smaller.
According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, chin implants have recently soared by 71 percent and last year alone, rhinoplasty ranked in the top 5 cosmetic surgical procedures. Dr. Antell explains one reason why more people can now fit facial surgery into the tightest of schedule, “Instruments have gotten smaller,” he says, “which means incisions are smaller and heal faster."
